Combine two half-day tours in one! Spot whales and seabirds along the coastal waters off Iceland's Snaefellsnes Peninsula and spend the afternoon at the National Park where you will see many beaches and amazing bird life.
Detail Description:
After a drive to Olafsvik, a lively fishing town, the excitement begins when you step onboard the whale-watching ship Brimrun to search for dolphins, orcas and minke whales. You might even be lucky enough to spot humpback whales, and perhaps even the blue whale, the biggest mammal in the world. You'll also have the opportunity to spot plentiful birdlife. Please remember to dress warmly, since it's colder at sea than ashore.Continue to the National Park where there are many beautiful beaches and amazing bird life. In this area there are many signs of ancient eruptions from the glacier and various lava formations and craters. Snaeellsjokull glacier is a dormant volcano and attracts thousands of people each year. The French author, Jules Verne, wrote the widely read adventure novel 'The Journey to the Centre of the Earth', where the imaginary journey is based in the vast and ice-filed crater of the cone-shaped strata-volcano Snaefellsjokull glacier. Before returning to Reykjavik we visit Stykkisholmur village by Breiaafjorour bay. This tour is seasonal, operating only from June to August.
