All the important historical details are highlighted, from the castle's origins in 850 A.D. to its continuing role today as the seat of government.For more than 600 years, the roofs of the castle have been dominated by the towers of the Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral, seat of the Archbishop of Prague. The coronations of the kings of Bohemia were held here until 1836, and the bodies of saints, kings, princes and emperors of Bohemia lie buried in the royal crypt.The cathedral's St. Wenceslas Chapel was built directly above the tomb of St. Wenceslas, and many relics decorated with gold, silver and precious stones were donated to the cathedral by Emperor Charles IV.After your visit to Prague Castle, the tour continues on foot through the Lesser Town to Charles Bridge, where the tour concludes.
